5-12-22 ACPS School Board meeting. Save the date!
The next Albemarle County School Board meeting is Thursday May 12th at 6:30 p.m.
Come to show your support for public education workers as they advocate to gain contract negotiation rights through collective bargaining. The school board wants to know the community's opinions on collective bargaining so your voice and attendance is essential.
At the April 28th School Board meeting, the Albemarle Education Association had about 50 members and supporters come to show support and ask that the school board adopt our resolution for collective bargaining for Albemarle County Public School workers.
The collective bargaining resolution was posted on the consent agenda as an informational item for that meeting. This allows the public the opportunity to express their opinion about the resolution to the school board before the board takes action on the resolution. The board still wants to hear from the community before they take action on our resolution for collective bargaining. Come to the next meeting on May 12th to let your attendance be seen and your voice be heard!
At the April 14th meeting, we had about 15 members and supporters there at the school board meeting.
Two weeks later on April 28th, we tripled the amount of supporters that attended.
Keep the tripling trend going! It truly would be impactful to have 150 supporters wearing red at the next school board meeting.

Thanks go out to everyone who have come to the school board meetings and to those who came the pre-meeting rallies beforehand. Thanks also to everyone unable to make it, who emailed the school board advocating that they adopt the submitted resolution for collective bargaining.
A special thanks go out to our community supporters from the Charlottesville Education Association, the UVA College Dems, the UVA Young Democratic Socialists of America, the Amalgamated Transit Union, the Charlottesville Democratic Socialists of America, Forward Albemarle, and all of the speakers during public comment.
Looking forward to seeing you all with your friends and family on May 12th!
